The Airtel guy called me today and said they cannot hook up internet for me. Apparently they'd have to dig under a road to connect my "layout" (neighborhood---so I don't have neighbors, just laybors). Anyway, this would require gov't permit, and the gov't here is Be-your-oh-kratic beyond belief. Still, I put our office persuader on the phone with them and they'll look more into it. Which is a fancy way of saying "wait four more days, but nothing will happen". It's a coded language, I think.
Other providers will be the same, except the gov't one. I'll look into that.
It's the start of mango season here. The mangoes I had when I first arrived were a lot better than those in the US. I can't wait to try them "in season". Lychees are good, too.
I finally found out what bird was making a weird, almost machine like, harmonious noise: a parrot. Parrots are not rare here, but not common. They like the mango trees. Which brings up trees....there are so many different kinds. Coconut and mango are popular, but others cram the streets (along with cows, dogs, children, and respective poop), I don't know what they are.
I know. I need to take more pictures. Detgen is hosting a wine/cheese event tonight, so I'll take the camera...and beer.
Go KU!!!
