Today is the three month mark for working at Meta-Culture, even though I arrived on the 22nd of Feb.
Some things to keep in mind while in India:
"Stop" means the other person should stop in traffic, but certainly not you.
STD means standard calls on cell phones. So when you see a sign that says STD HERE CHEAP, rethink it.
"No" means maybe, yes, or no.
Street markings, such as dashed lines for lane designation, serve as a the dots of a giant Pac Man game: don't stay on either side of such lines, drive down the middle of them.
"Backward People" are rural people.
"Illicit Liquor" = moonshine
"9:00" means 10:30...or so
"9:00 sharp" means 9:30...or so
There are more translations I've had to get used to. But those are the main ones.
